The course aims at studying a specific argument of the Venetian history of architecture, concentrating on a context of a precise chronological period particularly important for introducing innovative models in the architectural culture.
Content of the course:
The Venetian Villa of the Renaissance. The course will study a specific relevant argument in the architectural culture in the Veneto: the spread, from XV to early XVII century, of villas in the inland, intended both as structure for otium and as farm-house for agricultural exploitation of the rural areas in the Veneto. Specific cases will be examined in the considered period including the best villas designed by Michele Sanmicheli, Jacopo Sansovino and most of all Andrea Palladio, up to the evolutions proposed by Vincenzo Scamozzi and Baldassare Longhena.
