Learning outcomes

The course aims at introducing royalties in order to understand the common issues appearing in a professional experience. This subject has become central in the stimulation and access of intellectual and creative work; it’s also useful in work’s management, distribution and circulation. The course is conceived as an introduction to legal subject and also as analysis of legal issues connected with the Italian legislation of royalties.

Syllabus

The course introduces legal subject (particularly for those who didn’t have legal studies in their background) and subsequently, it investigates Royalties (Law n. 633, April 22nd 1941 and following changes) in its numerous aspects: protected work – Royalties (moral and economic rights) – transfer and lenght of rights – role of author- publisher- libraries – different supports: paper, audio-visual, electronical-telematic, pictures-images – exceptions – protection and creation in a digital sphere – Creative Commons, Copyleft, Open Access.

Assessment methods and criteria

The competence-goal of the student will be evaluated through an oral test.
