Learning outcomes

Acquaintance of the historical-artistic issues and ability to participate at the recent research through the practice of group-working.

Syllabus

Contents of the course: Greek iconography in the minor arts of the Early and Middle Imperial Age: stylistic-iconographical issues, production and circulation pertaining recent investigations in the discipline. Lessons pertaining: minor arts (glyptic, silverware, jewellery, bronze material, glass, pottery) and analysis of different kinds of handmaids in order to introduce the student to scientific research. Visits to museums, and collections in Italy and abroad. To better understand the techniques used in archaeology, the professor suggests a practical participation to an excavation campaign during the summer.
