Lesson timetable

Learning outcomes

study of the art evolution from the 18th century (Romanticism) to the end 20th century (Postmodernism), by focusing both on the analysis of art works and cultural contexts. The course will offer a double perspective, i.e. the study of artists along with the deepening of the relationships existing between art history and the other cultural fields (literature, philosophy, science, cinema, media etc.)

Syllabus

Contents of the course: the whole development of contemporary art will be analysed, by considering different artists and movements: Turner, Impressionism, Cézanne, Symbolism, Fauvism, Expressionism, Cubism, Futurism, Kandinsky, Mondrian, De Chirico, Dadaism, Informal, Body art, Postmodernism.
