Learning outcomes

The course aims to provide the acquisition of analysis tools to be applied to oral and written texts by speakers and authors within geographical, social, historical, and stylistic perspectives that contribuited to the formation of the Italian language.

Syllabus

a- History of Italian language from the Eighteenth Century until today;
b- Formation of Italian language and standardisation processes. The question of national language before and after Italian unity; construction of a collective identity;
c- Italo-Romance dialects. Jargons, regional Italian dialects, written and spoken Italian; varieties of Italian languages. Linguistic contacts;
d- Lingiostic reading and commentary of literay and non literary texts.
