EIMEPOLI brings together a consortium of experts in various areas allowing for synergetic effects in their common endeavors drawing on their experiences in their respective fields. Furthermore, the members of our research group are based in different EU countries; this allows for the comparison of different situations across Europe with respect to each focus of research of our proposal. For instance, from a linguistic point of view, we will investigate, through a contrastive analysis of German, English and Spanish brand names, how certain linguistic elements, such as EU- and Euro-, referring to a European identity, are used to appeal to their respective target audiences and become symbols of a new identity. The focus on trade marks will place particular emphasis on creating a tool for making trade marks accessible across disciplines , e.g. to lawyers needing information about the communicative value of trade marks , to linguists needing information about legal terminology, to economists needing information about the social awareness regarding trade marks in different countries, etc. This perspective shows how our consortium may interact successfully.
