Argument structure in theory and praxis
The aim of this part of the course is to consolidate, with further examples, the abilities in mastering linguistic theory in the description of single languages.
Once introduced a overview on the theories of argument structure and once evaluated their applicability to ancient indoeuropean lanaguges, we will further analyze their heuristic and descriptive value for other, more distant from our tradition, languages. We will describe Hurrian, a scarcely attested language of the Ancient Near East, and Hunzib, a Caucasian language.
