The main aim of the course is to provide a statistical way of analysing reality through a path that leads to the acquaintance of the sampling nature of empirical knowledge. The first part of the course concerns the concept of statistical distribution and introduces the idea of a statistical analysis; subsequently the lecture concentrates on logics and meaning through the investigation of variables and their dependence.
Contents of the course: Together with the institutional course, a Social Statistic Lab will be held in the computer room in order to provide the students with some practical exercise in relation to the statistical concepts learned in class.
The Lab session requires 5 lessons of 3 hours each and it allows to make 2 CFU (free). For all the students in Arts and Humanities, Lab session must be considered integrative part of the course.
Test (computerized) + Oral interview(optional).
After passing the test, an oral test can be considered as integration.
