I initially studied at the University of Verona, where I earned a MA in Science of Antiquities, and then at the University of Calgary, where I earned a Ph.D. in Roman History in 2017. Between 2017 and 2019, I was a Faculty of Arts and Science Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Classics at the University of Toronto. The study of the imperial history of the third century CE with a particular focus on the Severan age is my primary research area. In this respect I have published a number of articles on the Syrian Augustae (Julia Domna, Julia Maesa, Julia Soaemias and Julia Mamaea) and a book on the municipal policies of emperor Septimius Severus (Septimius Severus and the Cities of the Empire). Over the years I have also examined several themes connected to the study of Roman epigraphy, both in Italy and in the provinces of the empire.
