In this article, we deal with the two writing systems that were used in the Hittite kingdom of the 2nd millennium B.C. and in the Iron Age Luvian states, focussing on the diachronic, comparative and functional graphemics of the Hittite cuneiform script and the socalled Anatolian hieroglyphs.
