Curriculum

Mi sono occupato principalmente di storia delle scienze naturali nel 'lungo Settecento' con l'obiettivo di evidenziare i rapporti sociali, teorici e metodologici esistenti tra discipline naturalistiche e storico-antiquarie. Nel corso di tali indagini ho dato crescente risalto alla funzione delle rappresentazioni visive come terreno di incontro e di mediazione interdisciplinare. Da alcuni anni a questa parte ho arretrato cronologicamente i miei interessi di ricerca e ho modificato in misura sostanziale gli ambiti disciplinari indagati focalizzando l'attenzione su tre temi: 1. La botanica rinascimentale nei suoi rapporti con la committenza nobiliare. 2. I linguaggi visivi nelle scienze della Terra tra Cinque e Seicento. 3. L'elaborazione di una nuova fisica delle regioni sublunari (meteorologia) con particolare riferimento alla fisica e alla teologia del mondo sotterraneo. La consapevolezza che l'attività di ricerca su tali argomenti è rilevante esclusivamente nell'ambito specialistico mi ha indotto a sviluppare anche altri interessi, più adatti alla mediazione didattica, orientati alla comprensione della scienza dei nostri giorni: la storia dell'ecologia, l'affermazione dell'evoluzionismo biologico, la difesa della libertà d'indagine. Lo studio di questi argomenti ha lo scopo di costruire dei corsi di Storia della scienza che consentano di riflettere in modo critico ed equilibrato sulle implicazioni del dominio delle tecnoscienze.

DEaMoNs research group – Digital early modern network
DEaMoNs works on the promotion of collective research projects; on the encounter (and possible fusion) between different spheres of the historical analysis; on the dissemination of the scientific results achieved by the members (through the organization of seminars and conferences); on the organization of workshops and other training activities about DH tools, networks reconstruction and connected histories.
