Permanent Seminar on the History of the Republic of Venice

The aim of the 'seminar' is to create a space for informal discussion on issues relating to the history of the Venetian Republic. It will be open to male and female students, doctoral and post-doctoral students, and more generally to scholars from various backgrounds and disciplines. Ongoing research and/or topics and publications considered of interest to the research field will be discussed. More generally, the idea is to question general historical dynamics by paying attention to a delimited territory - the Veneto area in the Early Modern Age - in an attempt to better understand long-lasting phenomena and to measure the impact of a public use of history in the creation of narratives and identity constructions. The nature of the working group is entirely informal and oriented towards entering into the questions of the impact of research on the territory.
