the course aims at understanding the Latin literature, both in its fundamental issues (with special focus on the literary genres) and in some of its most significant texts; the course intends to provide students with some basic tools, in order to enhance the skills necessary for a linguistic, historical and literary analysis of both prosastic and poetic texts
Pre-requirements: basilar knowledge of the Latin language.
Contents of the Course: Latin literature and literary genres; comparative characterization of the most important genres, with short samples of text; reading of the Laelius vel de amicitia of Cicero, in its linguistic, historical and literary aspects.
Didactic Methods: lessons.
an interview, partly via readings of texts in the original language, which intends to ascertain that the course’s aims have been reached.
