This course offers an introduction into the properties of semiotic processes in natural language and to textual semiotics. Special attention will be devoted to the study of language and mind and to the computational theory of mind in a semiotic perspective. In the first part of the course textual semiotics will be addressed from a more theoretical perspective, whereas the second part will consists in a series of ‘case studies’ devoted to the analysis of the relation between grammar and meaning and to the application of text semiotics techniques to some literary texts.
