Learning outcomes

The course covers the time period from the end of the Roman Empire to the XIII century A. D., and explores themes within these time periods including settlement, trade and economy, buildings, artefacts and other material culture, social structure, ethnicity and identity, conquest and cultural contact, and methodological and theoretical approaches.

Syllabus

Prerequisite: admission open to all students with interests in archaeology and medieval history.

This course seeks to introduce students to aspects of the archaeology of medieval landscapes (urban and rural) during the period AD 400-1300.
