Learning outcomes

To gain a knowledge of the Italian literature of the 20th century and of its relations with journalism and publishing industry.
Students are required to use correctly the Italian language and to know the history of contemporary Italy.

Syllabus

1. The third page: culture and literature in the Italian journalism
2. Writers and publishers in 20th century Italy. Two careers of post WWII period: Beppe Fenoglio and Goffredo Parise.

Required texts:
1. We'll read and analyze a selection of texts by Italian writers and journalists.

– G. Parise, Il ragazzo morto e le comete, Il padrone, Sillabari (Adelphi)
– additional readings will be pointed out during the corses; a detailed syllabus will be provided in e-learning
– not attending students will read also Tirature '15. Gli intellettuali che fanno opinione, edited by V. Spinazzola (Il Saggiatore, free online: see Fondazione Arnoldo e Alberto Mondadori), B. Fenoglio, Lettere (Einaudi) and N. Pozza, Saranno idee d'arte e di poesia (Neri Pozza), only the correspondence with G. Parise.
