Acquisition of: skills in building databases for the circulation and valorisation of the results of historical research; ability to use the main IT tools (web and applications) for historical, statistical, cartographic and lexicographical research and analysis.
Prerequisits: Basic informatics skills. Students are asked to bring their laptops to classes.

First Section. Digital Tools and Digital Humanities: What are we talking about?
Introduction. History and Digital Turn; Digital Humanities and Digital humanism; DH: The way to democratize history?
Second Section. Not just Google. A digital toolbox: digital tools for historical research.
Online sources: Digital Archives, Digital Libraries; Libraries and Virtual Catalog; Transcribing documents using platforms (transkribus) and open source software; Cloud file sharing. Digital Sources and Copyright, deontology and publication rights.
Third Section: Digital Tools and historical analysis. Knowledge production and the role of Digital Humanities in spreading scientific historical knowledge.
Fourth Section. How create a Digital Historytelling presentation with historical content using digital tools (model: Storytelling software).
