The module of Romance Philology aims to lead the students to acquire and deepen fundamental knowledge in the fields of philology, historical linguistics and literature, through the reading and analysis of literary texts in Romance languages of the Middle Ages. Expected results: - Know and master the different levels of analysis applied to the texts during the course. - Know the specific disciplinary vocabulary. - Exhibit correctly the acquired knowledge.
The course is will be held in Italian and will be divided into four parts:
a. elements of ecdotic;
b. elements of “critique génétique”.
We wish to offer an idea of the methodology in order to do a critical edition of a text. The part of the “critique génétique” intends to study the manuscripts of modern and contemporaries authors in order to understand how the author create the work.
c. Selection of Medieval romance texts.
d. The method of Leo Spitzer
