Part I Expected results: At the end of the course the students will be able to: - Analyze the phrasal structures of the German language using the proper tools of the generative grammar model. - To appreciate the value of the theoretical explanation in order to: i) distinguish between grammatical norm and description of "linguistic competence"; ii) open a new perspective of comparative. Part II Expected results: - Apply the linguistic analysis skills (acquired during the course) to dialectal variation, with particular reference to the Cimbrian variety spoken in Trentino. - Evaluate the importance of theoretical analysis for the development of a grammatical norm.
