Learning outcomes

General history 1450-1815, with particular emphasis on European cultural history. At the end of the course, the student will be able to: a) recall the main historical facts and processes; b) recognize the sources examined during the course, reconstruct their contexts and suggest elements for their analysis and evaluation; c) understand and discuss the subject, methods and results of the selected monograph


Themes and problems of early modern history, with regular reference to sources and historiography. In-depth analysis of a choice from a variety of topics.

Assessment methods and criteria

Written questionnaire on all the course material, followed by an oral interview.
NB: In the current Covid-19 emergency this will be (until further notice) entirely substituted by the interview, to be held via distanced videocall. Please follow publicly posted uptades. Interviews via distanced videocall will be anyway available, on request, for the whole duration of the current academic year.
