Learning outcomes

The course aims at
1.consolidating and improving the ability of students to use English in a fluent way for social and professional purposes, particularly in the fields of Psychology, Education and Sociology;
2.developing methodologies for self-learning;
3.acquiring fluency in reading and writing short essays pertaining to the scientific contexts under scrutiny (Psychology, Education, Sociology).

Syllabus

1. Analysis of samples of journals, textbooks and specialised books (in the fields of Psychology, Education, Sociology).
We will particularly focus on the following topics:
-adoptions
-art therapy, drama therapy, music therapy
-eating disorders
-environmental issues
-homelessness
-intercultural communication
-mental health
-poverty
2.Composition of short texts
3.Analysis of English TV programmes, dealing with the topics mentioned above.

Course materials: Articles from specialised journals and textbooks which will be distributed during the course.

B2 certificate (post-intermediate) – not obligatory for students attending the course

N.B.: students who do not intend to attend the course are obliged to get the B2 certificate (computerized part) and to write an essay (20 pages) on one o
