Learning outcomes

Following the case of Andrea Schiavone, the course aims to improve the knowledge of Modern Art History, highlighting the different approaches to the reading of the art works: from archival research to contextual frameworks, from the use of images as historical sources to interactions with literature and other forms of art, from the connoisseurship to fakes and forgeries, from the art market to the phenomenon of the exhibitions.

Syllabus

Course Content: During the course, many images of art works will be presented and analyzed according to different perspectives of approach, aiming at activating mechanisms of personal reading.
Teaching methods: Slides during lectures and possibly museum visits. Learning material posted on e-learning.

Assessment methods and criteria

Oral. It is recommended to read the texts in the program not only by studying the contents, but also the images shown, for which you can request data for: author, subject, technique, location, date, state of conservation and each other critic aspects.
