Late gothic architecture in the eastern alpine lands.

The research group investigates the historical, artistic, and the constructive aspects concerning the ecclesiastical architecture of the northeastern alpine area, corresponding to the northern borders of the ancient diocese of Aquileia. The chronology of the monuments is included between the second half of the fourteenth and the middle of the sixteenth century. Various homogeneous areas have been identified, all characterized by a markedly oltralpine language. This aspect brought a new constructive sensitivity in a land far from the great artistic movements of northern Italy, but perpetuated still medieval codes for a long time.
