Learning outcomes

The course aims at analysing the connection between scientific knowledge and political interests, through the investigation of new kind of interferences between the scientific and power discourse.

Syllabus

Contents of the course: Biology and ideology: an empiric and historical approach. Theories of the living being introduced in the XVIIIth and XIXth centuries, in relation to their connection with some of the nationalist and Enlightened despotism ideas.
