Learning outcomes

introduction to the reading and comprehension of Roman Latin texts; acquisition of fundamental notions regarding the use of inscriptions as historical sources.

Syllabus

Contents of the course: taxonomy of inscriptions; inscriptions as documents and monuments; Latin onomatology; central and local administration; reading and editing Latin inscriptions; epigraphy of production, distribution and consumes; epigraphy and computer sciences; graffiti and tituli picti in Pompei.
