the course offers students the chance to read, interpret, date and exam the main manuscript sources of the Middle Ages.

historical exploration through a concrete text study: methodologies and results.

Syllabus

Contents of the course: the evolution of writing in the Latin alphabet from the 5th to the 15th century.

Contents of the course: textual and material forms of the Bible from the late-ancient age to the beginning of the Middle Ages (4th-10th century), with particular attention to manuscripts commissioned by political institutions heir of the Roman empire “space”.
