Learning outcomes

Perfezionare la conoscenza della storia dell’arte medievale, acquisire piena padronanza degli strumenti metodologici della ricerca storico-artistica, sviluppare la capacità di analisi critica, in vista di un’attività di ricerca condotta in autonomia.

Syllabus

> Topics
The first part of the course will be dedicated to literary criticism connected to the phenomenon chosen as the main theme: Ravenna V-VIII century.
The second part of the course will be dedicated especially to the evaluation of the surviving architectures of the city and related decorative systems. The artistic and architectural experiences will be examined in detail, starting from individual and specific case of studies; these monuments, that contribute with their innovations to characterize well-defined areas, will be individuated and accurately analysed.
> Teaching methods.
The course is based on lectures held by the teacher, in which will be stimulated also moments of confrontation. During the course, will be organized surveys to monuments, previously agreed with the students.
The materials concerning the course (program, lessons, important communications, etc.) will be uploaded to the university e-learning/Moodle site; by the end of the course all the material will be made available to the students.
All the students, both attending and non-attending, will have to enrol in the university platform site to gain access to the course and to support the exam.
> Bibliography
The bibliography will include one or more general texts and various essays concerning the areas and the monuments under investigation.

Assessment methods and criteria

The exam will be oral, without distinction between attending and non-attending students.
The exam will focus on the topics discussed in the classroom and on the notions acquired through a specific bibliography.
The evaluation will be expressed in thirtieths.
