The course aims at analysing the development of the Italian artistic heritage between the Fifteenth and the Nineteenth century. The course talks about a work of art connected to the cultural context which relates to history and also to the personal relationships and believes of the author, as well as to the real meaning that the work had to express.
Contents of the course: Ars nova and Early Renaissance: stories of an artistic relationship. The course is devoted to the connections between the Flemish and the Italian painting during the Eary Fifteenth and the Early Sixteenth century. The course will explain why and how did this process of influence activated, in the large context of economical, political and cultural events.
NOTE: For the 4years-degree students at the faculty of Arts and Humanities. The students must attend both (i) and (p) courses. The professor provides a list of readings for those who wish to iterate the preliminary section.
