Note:
The paper aims to highlight the contributions of Italian Humanism to the circulation of ‘minor’ grammatical literature: starting from a short list of grammatical traditions presenting a gap between early medieval and humanistic witnesses, the history of manuscripts found in Bobbio in 1493 is examined, with a discussion on the complex problem of their origin, based on a cross inquiry on the evidence provided by the inventories of the Bobbio library, the lists of texts found there at the end of the fifteenth century, and the surviving manuscripts – or their humanistic copies. In this way the paper aims to provide a contribution to the reconstruction of the fate of the scholar and grammatical Bobbio fund, whose consistency progressively diminished from the Middle Ages until the discovery of 1493.
