- Many reasons induced to dedicate gems to the gods. Archaic temples inventories quote rings or gems; gems which were consecrated in Etruscan and Latine temples are known, as well as gems with inscriptions which clarify that a dream or an oracle suggested the consecration. A series of gems for Aphrodite, Nemesis and many other gods are mentioned. A chapter is devoted to the gems for the recovered health. The inscriptions mention stolen rings, which were consecrated to a god, and therefore one can suppose that several rings, with their gems, when recovered, were consecrated in the temples.
