Breve descrizione dei contenuti:
The Assyro-Babylonian verbs zaqātu, saḫālu and dakāšu, and the related substantives siḫlu, siḫiltu and dikšu are the most common words denoting the action “to sting” (said of a pain) and the “stinging pain” itself. The purpose of this paper is to analyse these words by examining different types of texts (especially medical, but also omens and literary), to attempt to give an overview of stinging pain and its different shades.
