Curriculum

Gli interessi prevalenti di ricerca riguardano l'architettura e la scultura, con specifica attenzione alla parentesi cronologica compresa fra il tardoantico e il termine del romanico. Nelle analisi sui singoli manufatti come pure sui fenomeni artistici più coplessi, inoltre, la questione delle tecniche è da sempre considerata uno snodo imprescindibile, come pure le dinamiche interne ai cantieri medievali. Seppure nella maggiore parte dei casi si siano preferenzialmente affrontati argomenti riguardanti l'arte occidentale, non è mai stato trascurato il filone di indagine relativo alle influenze filtrate attraverso la cultura orientale bizantina sia direttamente dalla capitale d'Oriente, sia dalla periferia.

Research groups

Late gothic architecture in the eastern alpine lands.
The research team investigates minor ecclesiastical architecture in the Alpine arch of the Diocese of Aquileia between the 14th and 16th centuries.
Art in the Verona area in the Middle Ages (11th-15th centuries)
The research team works on the study and knowledge of the Veronese artistic and architectural heritage of the Middle Ages, with particular reference to the centuries from the XI to the end of the Middle Ages.
Sanctuaries in the Veneto region
The members of the team are proceeding to the detailed census of the Christian sanctuaries in the Veneto region, from the Hight Middle Ages to the contemporary age, with site inspections, and detailed bibliographic and archives research.
San Zeno in the Early Middle Ages.
The research team studies the basilica of S. Zeno in the Early Middle Ages, starting with the discovery of graffiti in the north apse, an existing part of the Carolingian building.
History of Byzantine art.
The research group studies the artistic phenomena of the Christian East during the Middle Age, documented both in the capital and in the outlying lands. Particular attention is given to the works of art present in the Italian peninsula.
