Curriculum

As confirmed researcher Monica Molteni has been appointed as professor for the course History of Artistic and Restoration Techniques.
Her research activity especially regards artistic techniques and restoration history, studied both in the artistic literature and documentary sources, and using the non-invasive diagnostic methods of the LANIAC centre, where she is vice-director.
In these dual fronts, the most recent research projects focus on problems related to conservation and artwork restoration between Nineteenth and Twentieth Century. In this order can be pointed out as currently ongoing the catalogation and indexing of personal archive of Ottemi Della Rotta (restorer) and the project FRESCO (financed by Joint Project 2017), focused on the problem of detatching of frescoes and their musealization. The results of both study campaigns will be available in a section of the Rossana Bossaglia Centre website dedicated to Restoration and restorers and they will be online available.

Research groups

A margine di Tintoretto
Il progetto si svolge in collaborazione con il complesso museale palazzo ducale di Mantova e intende offrire una rilettura degli spazi dell'appartamento del duca Guglielmo in Corte Nuova principalmente sotto l'aspetto delle decorazioni pittoriche. In particolare la ricerca interesserà la serie dei Fasti di Tintoretto e il grande spazio della Sala di Manto.
FRESCO - Affreschi staccati: restauro e conservazione
Finalità del gruppo di ricerca è lo studio degli stacchi e strappi d’affresco effettuati fra XVIII e XX secolo attraverso un approccio metodologico multidisciplinare che pone in dialogo la storia del restauro e delle tecniche artistiche, la storia della critica, la museologia, la storia dell’arte e le tecnologie della diagnostica applicata ai beni culturali.
La pittura profana dall'età barocca all'età neoclassica nell'Italia settentrionale: Brescia
Il gruppo di ricerca si occupa della catalogazione e dello studio dei cicli decorativi settecenteschi di soggetto profano, con particolare attenzione alla loro diffusione a Brescia e nel territorio bresciano
Rubens svelato
Il gruppo di ricerca in collaborazione con il Complesso Museale Palazzo Ducale di Mantova si occupa dello studio della grande pala con la Famglia Gonzaga in adorazione della Trinità, il capolavoro italiano di Rubens dipinto nel 1605, che venne tagliato in più parti in età napoleonica. Il progetto prevede una ricognizione delle fonti archivistiche inedite relative alla pala e un approfondimento diagnostico tramite tecniche di indagine non invasive attraverso la strumentazione del centro LANIAC. Oggetto dello studio saranno la pala e i frammenti della medesima, nonchè il bozzetto con il Martirio di Sant'Orsola dello stesso artista. I risultati delle indagini verranno presentati nel corso di una giornata di studi in programma presso Palazzo Ducale per il 12 ottobre 2016; in tale occasione verranno esposti anche ulteriori contributi che consentirano di ricostruire nel dettaglio le molte problematiche storiche e conservative della pala. Al convegno seguirà la pubblicazione di un volume di atti e la presentazione del medesimo.
Sanctuaries in the Veneto region
The members of the team are proceeding to the detailed census of the Christian sanctuaries in the Veneto region, from the Hight Middle Ages to the contemporary age, with site inspections, and detailed bibliographic and archives research.

Il gruppo di ricerca si occupa di indagare alcuni nuclei tematici di dipinti presenti nelle collezioni della Fondazione Brescia Musei e dell'Accademia Carrara di Bergamo nell'ambito di una convenzione stipulata con i due enti.
Unfinished Pisanello - Nuove indagini sul ciclo cavalleresco di Mantova
Il gruppo di ricerca è finalizzato allo studio del ciclo cavalleresco dipinto da Pisanello in Palazzo Ducale a Mantova sotto il profilo delle tecniche artistiche e delle vicende conservative.
