Curriculum

I am a scholar of ancient Greek world. I studied topics concerning archaic and classical institutions and identity, as well as Greek memories in the Roman culture. I am experienced in ancient historiography, above all with researches concerning Alexander the Great and Alexander historians, papyrus evidence included. I am now writing a history of the Greek polis of Byzantium, with a perspective of long term relationships between East and West.

Research groups

Alexander's Swat
The study area roughly corresponds to the Swat valley and adjacent territories, an area which has been extensively surveyed by the Italian Archaeological Mission, and others. The combination of the various "layers" might represent a good practice, never attempted before. The group aims at a tentative reconstruction of this segment of the Alexander's itinerary; an insight on the Greek (and Achaemenian) tradition in ancient NW India from Alexander to the Saka-Parthians, and their allied families in Swat.
EastWest
The members aim at a reconsideration of the historical dynamics of interactions in the framework of a renewed methodological approach, which imposes to abandon one-sided perspectives, strictly Greek or Oriental, to undertake a truly comprehensive analysis and comparison of the documentation.
