Curriculum

Alberto Scandola received his academic education at the University of Padua and at the University of Paris 3. He teached Film Analysis at the University of Nice (2001-2003) and History of Film at the University of Padua (2003-2004).  He's co-director of editorial series "Actors Studio" (Edizioni Kaplan) and deputy director of LIMEN (Center for Interdisciplinary Research on the Fantastic in Performing Arts, University of Verona). His research interests are centered on Performing Studies, Star Studies, Contemporary Italian cinema and French author cinema. He published seven books and his essays and articles have appeared in «La Valle dell'Eden», «Fata Morgana», «Bianco e Nero», «Acting Archives Review», among other publications.

Research groups

Studies in french cinema
The research group "STUDIES ON THE FRENCH CINEMA" aims to investigate the forms, aspects and characteristics of French film production from the 1920s to the present day. The focus of the research group is not only the cinema of author, but also the question of acting and above all the dynamics of exchange between cinema and literature.

Star and Performance studies In 2005 I started to investigate the dynamics of the director's work with the actors. I have published essays and articles on Ornella Muti and on the direction of the actors in the cinema of Marco Bellocchio, Bernardo Bertolucci, Luigi Comencini and Alberto Lattuada.
